Barcelona considering Pogba move

Barcelona are set to enter the race to sign Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba, .

The France international has been heavily linked with a move away from the Serie A champions over the past few transfer windows, with Chelsea closely monitoring his situation.

However La Liga giants Barcelona, whose transfer ban ends in January, are set to step up their interest as they look to freshen up their midfield.

Pogba began his career with Manchester United, but played for them just seven times in all competitions.

He moved to Turin in the summer of 2012, and has racked one hundred and thirty-nine appearances in all competitions, scoring twenty-five goals.

He was part of the squads that have won three consecutive Serie A titles, while last season he also …

Blanc looking for progress next season

Laurent Blanc wants Paris Saint-Germain to be even better next season despite a Ligue 1 and Coupe de la Ligue double this campaign.

The Frenchman has guided his team to an impressive domestic campaign, with PSG holding a seven-point lead over Monaco heading into their final league fixture at home to Montpellier on Saturday.

Last month also saw them lift the Coupe de la Ligue trophy with a 2-1 win over Lyon, while Blanc also steered the club to a UEFA Champions League quarter-final.

Despite that success, the coach wants even more from his charges next term.

We are satisfied with the work done by the players and the staff, he said.

In terms of points, the game, the outcome is positive, but also as regards the operation.

Next season we will try to be mor…

Kuyt hat-trick helps Feyenoord win first Eredivisie title in 18 years

Feyenoord have been crowned Eredivisie champions for the first time in 18 years, sealing the title with a 3-1 home victory over Heracles, Dirk Kuyt scoring a hat-trick.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst s men have been top of the league since matchday one and came into the final day of the season one point clear of closest rivals Ajax, who were playing away to Willem II at the same time.

That meant Feyenoord, who missed their first chance to win the title by losing to Excelsior last week, had to match Ajax s result to be crowned champions and did just that by beating Heracles courtesy of three goals from captain Kuyt.

Kuyt s first goal came after just 38 seconds and his 12th-minute header put Feyenoord in a dominant position.

The home side then wrapped up the vi…

Toulouse confirm new coach

Ligue 1 strugglers Toulouse have named Pascal Dupraz as the club s new coach.

The Frenchman s appointment was confirmed on the club s official website on Tuesday.

Dupraz replaces Dominique Arribage, who was sacked after Toulouse s 2-1 defeat to Rennes on Saturday.

The loss left second-bottom Toulouse 10 points adrift of safety and in real danger of relegation from France s top flight.

Dupraz will be tasked with saving the club from a return to Ligue 2 since winning the second tier in 2003.

The 53-year-old has previously managed former Ligue 1 outfit Evian, who he took all the way to the Coupe de France final in 2013.

Rumour Has It: Real Madrid no longer interested in PSG´s Mbappe amid exit talk

Real Madrid had a drawn-out pursuit of Kylian Mbappe earlier this year but ultimately missed out on the France forward.

Mbappe opted to sign a lucrative contract extension with Paris Saint-Germain in May, tying him to the Parisians until 2025.

But earlier this week, Fabrizio Romano reported the situation between PSG and Mbappe had got tense, with the player keen to depart.

TOP STORY – MADRID MOVE ON FROM MBAPPE AMID TRANSFER TWIST

Marca claims that Real Madrid are no longer have interest in signing Mbappe amid reports that he is unsettled at PSG and wants to leave.

The report claims that Los Blancos are observing the situation from afar with no desire to participate in the latest drama.

Romano also said PSG had no intention of selling Mb…

No Kane blame as Southgate accepts England failings ´right across the board´

Gareth Southgate refused to assess the individual performances of Harry Kane and Raheem Sterling or rush to judgement on Phil Foden s role in the England team after their draw with Hungary.

The Three Lions were held 1-1 at Wembley on Tuesday, ending a run of 21 consecutive home qualifying wins.

They had to come from behind, too, with Roland Sallai dispatching a penalty after Luke Shaw was penalised for a high boot, before John Stones nodded a leveller.

Southgate sought to change the game – avoiding a repeat of the Poland game, where he made no substitutions in an England match for the first time since Euro 96 – but Jack Grealish was an odd choice for the first withdrawal.

Grealish had caused Hungary problems, unlike Kane and Sterling, who both followe…

Hargreaves´ shock return ends in more misery

Owen Hargreaves lasted less than five minutes in his first Premier League start since September 2008 as the Manchester United midfielder limped off against Wolves at Old Trafford.

Hargreaves seemed to have been written out of United manager Sir Alex Ferguson s plans this season as he struggled to overcome long-term knee problems.

But the England star was surprisingly included in the United line-up on Saturday for his first senior appearance since coming on as a substitute for less than a minute at Sunderland last season.

Hargreaves first touch was greeted by cheers from the home support, but less than five minutes had gone before the former Bayern Munich player, having just crossed from the right, came to the touchline holding his hamstring.

There was cl…

Rivaldo, from Tashkent back to Sao Paulo

Former World Cup-winning midfielder Rivaldo has confirmed his return to his native Brazil, having brought a lucrative two-year spell in Uzbekistan to an end in August.

The former Brazil international quit Uzbeki club FC Bunyodkor, who are based in Tashkent, earlier this year and said Thursday he will play in 2011 with Sao Paulo-based Mogi Mirim, of which he is president.

After settling a few problems I ve decided that in 2011 I will play for Mogi Mirim, the club where I m president, Rivaldo, 38, told his micro-blogging account Twitter.

Rivaldo s zenith for Brazil came at the 2002 World Cup in Japan and South Korea where he scored in the first five games as Brazil went on to claim a fifth trophy.

His five-year spell with Barcelona was arguably the highli…

Brisbane Roar 2 Melbourne Victory 1: Champions dethroned by McKay, Broich

Brisbane Roar staged a dramatic late comeback to beat 10-man Melbourne Victory 2-1 in their A-League elimination final on Friday.

Former Roar favourite Besart Berisha, controversially cleared to play after having a suspension overturned, looked to have won the game for defending champions Victory when he scored from a corner with four minutes to go.

But Brisbane stalwarts Matt McKay and Thomas Broich then struck in the space of two minutes to turn the match on its head and send John Aloisi s team through to semi-finals.

They will play Western Sydney Wanderers, in a re-match of the 2013-14 grand final, in the last four.

Victory had the better of the first half at Suncorp Stadium and created early half-chances that fell to Fahid Ben Khalfallah, Kosta Barbar…

Fiorentina to extend Tello loan

Catalan daily newspaper Sport understands that Spanish winger Cristian Tello could remain at Fiorentina at least for another year.

The 24-year-old cut short his loan spell with FC Porto to join Viola until the end of the season, and he did well to nail down a regular starting berth at Artemio Franchi.

Tello managed one goal and three assists in 13 Serie A appearances, and he clearly did enough to extend his stay in Florence.

Namely, Fiorentina have met with Barcelona in an attempt to extend the winger’s loan deal for another year and everything suggests an agreement will soon be reached.

Tello had shown plenty of promise during spells with the Catalans and FC Porto, but his long-term future at Camp Nou is still in doubt and chances are he will not be …
